Rebecca Morgan

Rebecca Morgan is one of the Kimberley’s brightest emerging artists. “‘I am a descendant from the Wanambal and Gija people of the East Kimberley through my father’s side, and the Yawuru people from the West Kimberley on my Mother’s side. I retain strong cultural links, understanding and knowledge of my people.” Her very personal art captures themes that include family values, unity, the journey of life and Dreamtime stories passed down to her by family elders. Her imagery reflects the colours of the Kimberley, stories of the sea and the rhythm of the seasons that remain important aspects of her life.

“I come from freshwater and saltwater country. Most of my life I thought I was only a freshwater person until I acknowledged my connection to the saltwater. My inner spirit urges me to be near the ocean where my inspiration comes from.”

Mother Earth - "The land does not belong to us, we belong to the land." This is our belief; a saying we grow up with.
